I am usually a healthy eater and generally avoid junk food. In fact, living in SE Asia where the food is so diverse and fresh you basically delete processed food and red meat from your diet
During a trip to Pattaya Beach, while gazing at para-sailors, jet ski riders, and the crystal-clear blue waters, something extraordinary appeared on the horizon. The allure was so intense that I practically sprinted toward it, afraid I might be hallucinating. But no, it was real—the iconic Golden Arches of McDonald’s. I knew at that moment that I had to have a one.
After successfully deciphering the self-service machine with its Thai instructions (thank goodness for universally understood pictures), I ordered the Big Mac Meal. Unlike in Australia, this one was made to order, so when it arrived, everything was piping hot—the fries, the burger, even the Coke was ice-cold.
As I devoured my meal, I couldn’t help but chuckle at the absurdity of my culinary quest for a fast-food fix amidst such an exotic backdrop. Who would have thought that the real treasure at Pattaya Beach was not the pristine shoreline but a Big Mac? Sometimes, life’s little surprises are the ones that make us laugh the most.
