Washing Day

Washing day in Asia is like a magical laundry fairy tale. In Bali, you drop off your clothes in the morning, and by the time you’ve had your afternoon nap, they’ve been through a whirlwind adventure – washed, dried, folded, and returned to you, smelling as fresh as a frangipani blossom. It’s so easy and cheap. So, I ventured into the world of Thai laundry services with my bundle of dirty clothes. “No problem,” they said, “you can pick up your laundry in two days.” Two days? I panicked at the thought of running out of knickers before then! They do not use dryers.

But then, I had a stroke of genius (or perhaps madness).  Our apartment had a washing machine, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. Mind you, I hadn’t hung laundry in years because it’s always been easier to rely on the dryer, even on sweltering days. But there I was, facing the front loader like a brave laundry warrior, armed with drying racks on our balcony. I conquered the laundry quest, and  I proudly hung my clothes to dry. Still took 2 days but at least I could watch them dry. Love MyLifestyle
