From Palace to Cozy Krabi, Thailand

Cozy Krabi Thailand

Bidding farewell to our luxurious hotel in Ao Nang wasn’t easy. The staff were incredibly kind and always ready to help, making our stay there truly memorable. Ao Nang itself was a delight, from its picturesque island trips and beautiful beaches to the bustling local restaurants. And let’s not forget the night markets, a haven for food lovers like me.

However, with our time in Thailand ticking away and my husband needing to focus on his upcoming lectures for Royal Caribbean, we realized Ao Nang’s lively atmosphere might be a bit too distracting. So, we decided to take a short, 45-minute journey to Krabi Town, a quieter yet charming destination along the river.

Krabi Vietnam - 1 Krabi Town had a more laid-back vibe compared to Ao Nang. It was equipped with all the essentials, including a 7-Eleven and a quaint shopping mall. It’s known for its lively markets, offering a taste of authentic Thai street food and a variety of crafts. The town’s riverside, with its cozy cafes and restaurants, and notable sites like the Wat Kaew Korawaram temple, offered a peaceful and cultural experience.

Choosing our next accommodation was quite a shift from our previous luxury. We found a small hotel on Booking.com with only 24 rooms, conveniently located near the town centre. It seemed like a good fit at a great price. When we got there, the guy at the front desk was all formal at first, but then he turned into a real-life version of Basil Fawlty from ‘Fawlty Towers.’ I had asked for a ground-floor room and got a ‘yes’ earlier, but he made a fuss about it being more expensive. I said I’d pay extra, but he was just making a point – we were the only guests, after all.

Krabi Vietnam - 2 Our first trek into town took a humorous turn when we ran into the hotel’s dog patrol. The tiniest one, thinking it was the big boss, gave us a bit of a stand-off, like it was guarding a doggy fortress. But pretty soon, these furry hotel guards just became a quirky, regular part of our daily routine.

As days passed, the Cozy Krabi Hotel began to feel like home. It’s a family-run place, with each member contributing – from administrative work to cooking and cleaning. They maintain the hotel impeccably, putting some high-end hotels to shame. The breakfasts were generous to a fault, and my daily requests for smaller portions were always met with a chuckle.

Even the local dogs, initially standoffish, became familiar friends, barely acknowledging me as I passed by. This stay has given us a genuine taste of life in Krabi, balancing comfort with local charm. It’s been an unexpectedly delightful part of our journey. Love, MyLifestyle.
