Fragrant Singapore
As a passionate traveller and an enthusiastic writer, I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Singapore. The country has not just been a destination for me but a canvas of vivid experiences. I’ve visited it numerous times, each trip etching new memories and strengthening old bonds. My connections with the Singapore Scout Association and the Ministry of Education have been particularly enriching, offering me the privilege of not just exploring but contributing.
Over the years, I’ve made incredible friendships in Singapore. The joy of reuniting with these friends is a highlight of each visit. Together, we’ve ventured beyond the beaten path, discovering unique spots that only locals know. But of course, I’ve also indulged in the usual tourist experiences – the thrill of the Night Safari, the charm of Sentosa Island, and the wonders of the Singapore Zoo.
In my earlier writings, I’ve touched upon the Singapore government’s innovative incentives for tourists. This time, I’m excited to share a recent adventure, a unique experience courtesy of Singapore’s rewards scheme for tourists – and it’s entirely free.
As a visitor in Singapore, you have the opportunity to register for various rewards, including local attractions and tours. On this occasion, I decided to try something unconventional and signed up for the OO La Lab experience. OO La Lab is a pioneer in Singapore, offering a first-of-its-kind craft-your-own fragrance workshop. The concept is intriguing: deconstructing complex fragrances into their primary components and inviting participants to the ‘Chemistry of Oo’. This workshop is a sensory journey, an opportunity to delve into the art of perfumery.
Initially, my husband was somewhat reluctant about the idea. However, as we immersed ourselves in the experience, his scepticism quickly turned to fascination. The workshop was conducted by a team of knowledgeable and engaging experts who guided us through the intricate process of blending fragrances. We explored various aromas, learning to combine our favourite scents to create a unique perfume. The process was both educational and enjoyable.
What amazed me was the level of personalisation. The final product wasn’t just a small sample, but a 30ml bottle of our blends, elegantly packaged. The staff even noted our unique formulas, offering the possibility of reordering in the future. The whole experience was a delightful journey of discovery and creativity.
This adventure was a testament to Singapore’s innovative approach to tourism. It’s not just about seeing new places but engaging in unique experiences that stay with you. My husband, who was initially hesitant, ended up thoroughly enjoying the workshop, crafting his cologne.
