Fit for a Queen – Ao Nang, Thailand

Ao Nang Thailand

After a few days of business engagements and leisure in Singapore, Thailand called me back, this time to its southeastern treasures. Our journey? A quick 2-hour flight to Krabi and then a scenic 45-minute drive to Ao Nang, the stepping stone to those dreamy islands like Phi Phi and James Bond Island. But more on those later!

We rolled up at our hotel, where this lovely Thai lady welcomed us. Now, with my knee still challenging from a recent surgery, I always play it safe and request a ground-floor room. But this time, it seemed like the universe had other plans. We wandered around the hotel, lugging our overstuffed bags, only to be greeted by this monstrous flight of stairs. The look on my face must have been priceless because our sweet hostess immediately sensed something was up. When I pointed out my no-stairs request, she was all ‘Ok, Ok’ you wait and dashed off.

I rolled up my pants, showed her my battle scars, and made it clear: stairs and I am not friends. Off she went again, and this time she was gone for what felt like an age.

When she returned, she had us follow her through this maze of ramps and corridors. And guess what? She upgraded me! My husband likes to joke that I’m a queen, and well, it turns out he might be onto something. We found out that three adjacent hotels had merged into this mega-resort with everything from backpacker dormitories to luxury suites. And there I was, standing in front of an elegant suite in the Ayodhaya Palace Resort, with a stunning pool view. Talk about a knee surgery perk!

A simple preference for a ground-floor room had magically transformed into an upgrade fit for royalty. Life sure has its splendid surprises. Stay tuned for more enchanting stories from my Thai escapade. Loving MyLifestyle!
