A Sea of Dreams: My Voyage on Ovation of the Seas”

Ovation of the Seas

Embarking on a cruise is like stepping into a world of unending excitement and wonder. For me, the allure of cruising isn’t just a pastime; it’s a passion that fills my days with dreams and anticipation. Whether I’m engrossed in reading about ships, meticulously planning our next destination, or simply lost in thoughts of the open sea, the thrill of cruising never leaves my heart.

Ovation of the Seas 2 I consider myself incredibly fortunate to frequently set sail, thanks to my husband’s role as an Enrichment Speaker on various cruise lines. This unique opportunity has opened up a world of adventure for us. Our latest voyage was no exception – a 12-night cruise around New Zealand aboard the majestic ‘Ovation of the Seas’. Departing from Sydney after a flight from Thailand was an easy choice, fueled by our shared love for the sea.

This trip marked my fifth journey on the ‘Ovation of the Seas’, a Quantum-class cruise ship owned by Royal Caribbean International (RCI), and each time, the excitement feels new. There’s something magical about seeing her, a grand vessel, juxtaposed against the iconic backdrop of the Sydney Opera House at Circular Quay. Being one of the third-largest classes of cruise ships, she never fails to impress.

The ‘Ovation of the Seas’ is a floating marvel, accommodating up to 4,905 passengers. Its routes vary, connecting diverse destinations like Alaska, Sydney, Singapore, and Honolulu. I am always drawn to these colossal ships, eagerly awaiting my next adventure aboard Royal Caribbean’s latest, the ‘Icon of the Seas’.

Stepping onto the ship is an electrifying experience. Surrounded by other excited passengers, the energy is palpable. The staff’s warm welcome as you board sets the tone for the journey ahead. They guide you to either indulge in the sumptuous buffet or to your stateroom.

Ovation of the Seas 3 As part of the enrichment team, our accommodation is pre-selected. This time, we were pleasantly surprised with a junior suite at the ship’s front. The suite was spacious, but the highlight was the large picture window offering a breathtaking view of the ocean and landscapes, especially as we sailed through New Zealand’s majestic Sounds. Many hours were spent lounging by the window, immersed in the beauty of our surroundings.

‘Ovation of the Seas’ caters to guests of all ages and interests. Despite having 1000 children on board during the Australian school holidays, the ship’s vastness and varied activities meant that it never felt crowded. The entertainment onboard is top-notch, with a plethora of dining options to satisfy any palate – from a casual hot dog at the Dog House to exquisite fine dining.

One of my favourite spots on the ship is the solarium. An adults-only oasis with a large pool and two spas, it’s the perfect place to unwind, read, or enjoy a peaceful afternoon siesta on the deck loungers.

Cruising offers the flexibility to be as active or relaxed as you wish. It’s a chance to spend quality time with family or enjoy solitary moments. I love to mix it up, but one thing is certain – my love for cruising is unwavering. It’s not just a holiday; it’s a lifestyle, a part of who I am. Love Mylifestyle.
