If you’ve ever visited Asia, you’ve probably noticed the crazy tangle of electric wires that somehow keep the lights on in businesses and homes. It’s like a big, messy spiderweb up there! Safety doesn’t seem to be their top priority, and I can’t figure out how they manage to provide a reliable electricity supply.
I teach international students in Australia, and when I asked them about those wild wires in Asia, they just shrugged and said, “What’s the big deal?” But that all changed when I started teaching them about Workplace Health and Safety (WHS). Our safety standards in Australia are like wearing a helmet while riding a bike compared to what they have in Asia.
I guess they don’t get many complaints about power outages, or at least I hope not too many people get zapped! It’s funny how traveling can give you a whole new perspective on things. So, next time you see those crazy electric wires in Asia, just remember, it’s all part of the adventure!
