Page after page, book after book the experience of reading joy was akin to the mandatory Gin and Tonics. I often mused as to how many drinks per book.
As with all body parts, the older you get they seem to go through change and my faithful Kindle Reader was going through some sort of menopause. The plug charger started to create problems although if you just balanced the cord in exactly the right position you get another day of charge. Not sure if this became a challenge or a frustration.
Now don’t misunderstand this when I say husbands are wonderful creatures to have around. They have certain qualities and are useful. Ask them to do anything twice, “the first time they just did not hear you” and they spring into action to get the job done. Often, when the task is completed, they have that same look as the dog, you know…waiting for the pat on the head.
When you combine an upcoming birthday with the perceptiveness of a husband’s ability to guess what you need or want as a present, you may as well try mixing oil and water. Why is it so hard I often wonder? Maybe my hints are not targeted enough? Oh, for heaven’s sake it has been far more than twice, yet the obvious still falls on deaf ears, “yet again”.
Yes, yes I would appreciate a new model Kindle Reader for my birthday. Finally, I thought that would be it until the inevitable questions come …what colour would you like? And what about the cover, does it come with one? Oh please … life should not be this hard.
Some birthdays are full of surprises! This was not one of them, however, I am so grateful for the end result of my new Kindle Paperwhite. It is easy to charge the battery and lasts way longer. Smaller and so much lighter. Yes, I like my new travel companion reader. I have just another twelve months to improve my communication skills for the next gift.
Wish me luck!
